Annual 2025 Scientific Conference — Poster Acceptance

I presented a poster on the overuse of MRI in diagnosis osteomyelitis (bone infection) in the foot and ankle, applying Bayes’ Theorem to highlight the importance of clinical judgement. Too often, MRIs are ordered reflexively, despite the long standing research that depicts the combination of objective physical exam findings and lab studies can more accurately guide diagnosis. Imaging studies may be highly sensitive in revealing abnormalities, but it cannot reliably distinguish between the various differential diagnoses such as infection or inflammatory pathologies. My goal with this presentation was to remind the medical community that while technology is valuable, it should complement — not replace — thoughtful reasoning.
